I’ve recently been thinking a lot about the possibility of ‘Consumer Clubs’ forming to leverage purchasing power to reap price breaks on everyday consumer goods. Think of it like a crowdfunding platform where 100,000 people could purchase a bottle of shampoo that they were already going to buy at a retail price. By negotiating a bulk purchase and going straight to the supplier, they should be able to buy at wholesale prices.

Over time, these clubs could pool resources to create even more efficiencies for their members. Imagine if the Club started buying assets like a shampoo production plant so that members could purchase the product at cost. This type of dynamic could turn the ‘Law of Supply and Demand’ on its head if the consumers and the producers are one in the same. Cryptocurrencies and tokenized securities make this type of organizational structure possible through smart contracts and the unprecedented transparency it provides.

Good times are ahead!
